From Metro cheif to BMC commissioner: Who is Ashwini Bhide? Mumbai's first woman in 160 years in history
Ashwini Bhide, instrumental in Mumbai's underground Metro project, has made history as the first woman Municipal Commissioner of the over-160-year-old BMC. A 1995 batch IAS officer, she takes charge from Bhushan Gagrani and is expected to serve a full three-year term. Bhide, also holding additional charge as MD of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation, expressed gratitude for the responsibility.
